Firefighter with a passion for music

CITY of uMhlathuze firefighter and part-time fitness instructor, Scharnee Muller, has a burning passion for music which cannot be extinguished.
The 27-year-old started playing the guitar at age 15 after her mom bought her an old cheap model.
‘As a child I used to sing in all corners of the household and was besotted with music growing up,’ said Muller.
‘When my mom bought me my first guitar, I practiced day and night and taught myself how to play.’
Last year she was baptised and joined Solid Ground church, where she is currently a member of the worship band.
‘I was also a member of a worship band at my former church in Richards Bay, and I’m now the back-up guitarist and singer at Solid Ground.’
She uses her music to inspire people to see the goodness and faithfulness of God.
Muller also wants to start writing music this year.
‘I recently purchased a piano, so I’m very excited to learn how to play it.’
The part-time fitness instructor at Virgin Active and Body Line trains six times a week for up to four hours a day when she is off.
‘I need to keep fit and stay in shape for my job as firefighter, but I enjoy it.
‘I just want to get the message across to all youngsters out there that one does not need an expensive guitar, or go to some fancy musical school.
‘One can learn to play any musical instrument online if you have a passion for music.
‘If you remain dedicated, patient and persevere, then you can achieve anything.’
