Ready to rock and roll the Dusi

Paddle junkies ready to put their fitness to the test

TWELVE paddle junkies from the Zululand Kayak Club have been training four times a week for one to two hours per session in preparation for the prestigious Dusi Canoe Marathon which got underway yesterday (Thursday).

The 120km race is the biggest canoeing event on the African continent and one of the world’s most popular river marathons, attracting between 1 600 and 2 000 paddlers each year.

Paddlers started in Pietermaritzburg and will finish at Durban’s Blue Lagoon today (Saturday).

The Zululand Kayak Club members hoping to make their mark are Wade French, Mark Henderson, Don Vosey, Steven Scrase, Johnny Stander, Mike Stevens, Craig Sparks, Jacques Labuschagne, Warren Smith, Lionel Foster, Perry Cobbalt and Brian Chedsey.
