Zululand school athletes shine in Potch
Ilembe athlete dominates at national champs
ZULULAND school athletes represented KwaZulu-Natal when they competed at the Inter-provincial Sub Youth Championships at Kenneth MC Arthur in Potchefstroom.
Nqobani Guma of Ilembe dominated in his events, winning the boys U15 800m (2.04.01), boys U15 steeple chase (5.11.74) and boys U15 1500m (4.40.70), whilst Henk Gouws of Richards Bay Primary School won the boys U11 high jump (1.51m).

Nqubeko Mkhwanazi of Mtubatuba Primary School came third in the boys U13 long jump (5.88m) and fourth in the boys U13 100m (12.24 seconds).
Philasande Maxase of Grantleigh ended fifth in the boys U13 long jump (5.58m) and eighth in the boys U13 shotput (11.17m).
Pongola’s Lize de Beer managed third in the girls U9 turbo javelin (17.56m).
Michaella Forbes of Grantleigh came fourth in the girls U15 long jump (5.06m).
Karla Combrink of Pongola claimed sixth in the girls U15 long jump (4.82m) and sixth in the girls U15 90m hurdles (14.45 seconds).
Mnqobi Ngubane of Felixton College placed second in the boys U15 long jump (6.51m), second in the boys U15 high jump (1.75m) and sixth in the boys U15 100m (12.01 seconds).
Grantleigh’s Chene van Wyk claimed fourth spot in the girls U15 hammer (27.07m) and fifth in the girls U15 discuss (26.80m).
Retief Ueckermann of Richards Bay High School ended fifth in the boys U15 hammer 36.15m and tenth in the U15 boys discuss 34.52m.
Shanté Veldsman of Arboretum Primary School ended ninth in the girls U11 shot put (10m).
Ngcebo Mndabe of Mtubatuba Primary School came eighth in the U11 boys shot put (11.49m).
Anica du Plessis of Arboretum Primary School came fourteenth in the girls U11 1200m (4.44.49) and thirteenth in the girls U11 70m hurdles (14.10 seconds).

Pinkette Phewa of Arboretum Primary School claimed tenth in the girls U9 60m (9.71 seconds) and ninth in the girls U9 80m (12.67 seconds).
Uminathi Mdluli of Grantham Park Primary School ended eleventh in the boys U9 60m (9.41 seconds) and eleventh in the boys U9 80m (12.34 seconds).
Henk Gouws of Richards Bay Primary School won the boys U11 high jump (1.51m).
Pongola’s Chris Delport took fourth in the boys U15 javelin (50.87m).

Challen Adonis of Arboretum Primary School ended thirteenth in the boys U11 70m hurdles (13.07 seconds).
Jared Waldapfel of Grantleigh ended sixth in the boys U13 100m (12.42 seconds).

Nosisa Sibiya of Mtubatuba Primary School claimed second in the girls U13 high jump (1.55m).
Deon Needham of Arboretum Primary School ended thirteenth in the boys U13 shotput (9.62m).
Ramatuku Sikhakhane of Arboretum Primary School ended twelfth in the boys U7 80m (13.52 seconds).
Samantha Dreyer of Richards Bay Christian School ended twelfth in the girls U11 long jump (3.78m).
Thulani Nkosi of Arboretum Primary School claimed third in the boys U11 long jump (4.56m).
Marisca Sutherland of Pongola took seventh in the girls U13 javelin (27.82m).
