Mother of missing Unizulu student awaits DNA confirmation of burned remains found
Woman's burned remains could be that of missing Unizulu Student
THE mother of missing University of Zululand (Unizulu) student Sikhulile Nondumiso Khuzwayo (22), this morning spoke exclusively to the ZO and said she is currently awaiting police DNA results to determine if her daughter is alive or not.
This comes after the remains of a woman’s body was found on Sunday morning in Ncekwane, just outside Empangeni.
Sikhulile was reported missing on Friday afternoon by the Unizulu’s Protection Services Department (PSD).
On Sunday Mtunzini and Empangeni detectives investigating the missing person’s case, arrested a 37-year-old male.
It is believed the accused led police to the site where burned remains were found.

He appeared in the Ngwelezana Magistrate’s Court this morning and the matter was remanded till tomorrow for Legal Aid for the accused.
In October last year, final year student Nqobile Ngema (25) was killed after being shot six times off-campus.
Her murder followed that of Lethukuthula Ngobese (21) whose body was found stuffed inside a cardboard box at a dwelling in eSikhaleni in August.
