A COMBINED intelligence-driven operation last week bore fruit when 200kg of heroin to the value of more than R140-million was confiscated at the Golela border post.
When a truck that had been identified by Crime Intelligence Border Security as being used for the smuggling of heroin from Mozambique to South Africa via Swaziland, arrived at the border post on Wednesday, crime intelligence notified Golela police officers and the truck was intercepted just before it left the border post.

Along with crime intelligence officers from Golela, officers from Richards Bay DPCI (Organised Crime) attended the scene.
An inspection of the truck revealed a false compartment in which the hoard of heroin was found.
