Strike action could affect DUT registration
‘The Durban University of Technology had not concluded the 2018 salary negotiations in time for implementation on 1 January

ZULULANDERS planning to study at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) have been encouraged to register online owing to an employee strike action which began on Monday that could affect the registration process.
‘The Durban University of Technology had not concluded the 2018 salary negotiations in time for implementation on 1 January.
‘After several meetings, the parties met at the CCMA on 15 December, where the CCMA issued a strike certificate as the parties had reached a deadlock.
‘DUT management assures its stakeholders that registration continues, but given the industrial action the university would like to encourage students to register online,’ DUT said in a statement.
This comes as tension continues to mount across the country over the registration process after Universities South Africa discouraged walk-ins.
