MORE than 300 first year students were successfully registered on the first day of registration at the University of Zululand (Unizulu) on Monday.
The institution welcomed the first wave of first-time entering undergraduate students who registered for the various programmes offered by the Faculty of Science and Agriculture.
‘The online registration process simultaneously kicked in at 8am at both the KwaDlangezwa and Richards Bay campuses.

Faculty Manager in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture, Mihloti Mkhatshwa, said the registration process was efficient.
‘Everything went really smoothly. The number of students being registered rapidly increased throughout the day. As a result, we have a few courses that are now full.
‘We will continue to register throughout the week, so we encourage all students who received firm offers in programmes in the Science and Agriculture Faculty to come to the institution,’ Mkhatshwa said.
The registration process will end tomorrow (Friday) with all faculties and study programmes at both campuses.
The university recently announced that it would not accept any walk-in applications.
‘The University of Zululand has a limited number of 3 900 spaces available for first-time students and has already issued offers to fill these spaces.
‘We will not accept walk-in candidates as per the instruction of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET). All applicants must have applied through the Central Applications Office (CAO).
‘Additional spaces for study will only become available should a student refuse to take up an offer to study,’ Unizulu said.
