A SUSPECT (38) appeared briefly in the eShowe Magistrates’ Court on Monday in connection with
the murder of Chief Linda Mathonsi (60) and the attempted murder of his daughter on 5 December,
2016.
Chief Mathonsi and his daughter were shot at by unknown suspects while driving in the Chappies
area near Mandeni.

The chief passed away at the scene, while his daughter was taken to hospital for medical attention.
The suspects fled the scene in their getaway vehicle and a case of murder was opened at the Sundumbili police station.
The case docket was transferred to the Hawks for investigation.
The man was arrested last Friday. He has been remanded in custody and the case was postponed to 22 January.
