Club cricket starts up again

The league will be played over 10 weeks in a round robin format

AFTER a long festive season and time away from the cricket pitch, local club players will be back in action on Saturday when both first and second division teams compete in the popular annual Saturday 24 Over League.

The league will be played over 10 weeks in a round robin format.

The top two teams will compete in the finals on Saturday, 24 March, with the third and fourth play-off scheduled for Saturday, 17 March.

This will bring the 2017/2018 club cricket season to a close.

The season started off with the Weber Cup, which saw Richards Bay Cricket Club successfully defend their title.

Teams then competed in the T20 version of the game, with Mancosa Empangeni Rugby Club defending their second division title.

The first division final between Empangeni Cricket Club and Richards Bay Cricket Club will be played on Saturday, 10 March at Addison Park.

Round one fixtures for Saturday

First Division

• eShowe vs Brackenham in eShowe

• Richards Bay Cricket Club 1 vs Empangeni Cricket Club at uMhlathuze Regional Sport Complex A.

• Felixton vs uMfolozi at Felixton.

Second Division

• Thandanani vs Richards Bay Cricket Club 2 at uMfolozi
