Zululand jukskei flag flies high

The Jukskei team from Richards Bay make their mark at KZN compo

THE Richards Bay Jukskei club flew the Zululand flag high at the recent North KZN Jukskei League in Newcastle, with all three teams doing extremely well in their respective divisions.

The highly competitive league saw clubs from Vryheid, Newcastle, Dundee and Richards Bay competing, fielding 19 teams.

Richards Bay entered two A section teams and one in the B section.

The Richards Bay A1 team ended top on the log at the end of the day, with the A2 side managing fourth place.

The B team dominated their section and went into a play-off, where they unfortunately lost to end second overall on the day.

Richards Bay’s Jakes Hammond and Suné Swart, who played for the girls U19 KZN side, will compete in the Junior SA tournament in Kroonstad from 2 December along with U13 boys player Zweli Mbuyazi.

Coach Janet van Staden was selected to coach the girls U13 team that will compete in Kroonstad and then go directly to Bloemfontein for the National Schools jukskei tournament, where Mbuyazi will represent KZN.
