Pigeon racing season comes to end

Fanciers fly high in Richards Bay

THE 2013 pigeon racing season came to a conclusion this weekend when the Zululand clubs held their annual prize-giving ceremony on Saturday at Birdswood, Richards Bay.

Club members were rewarded for their efforts after a great season of competitive flying, where record times were set.

This season saw the competition come right down to the wire, with the champions being decided only after the last race of the season.

Willie Meyers and Tania Meyers celebrated their victory when they were crowned Zululand Combine and Melmoth Club Champions after a very successful season.

All participants are now breeding their pigeons for next year’s season, which kicks off in June.
