CRIMINALS left empty handed after attempting to blow up a drop safe inside an eSikhawini hardware store with explosives in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
It is believed the robbers held up the security guard at 1am, opened the outer gate using his keys and then forced open the steel gate and door.
Explosives were then used to try and blast open the safe, but the money could not be accessed.
No structural damage to the property was reported and nothing was taken from the premises.
