Mansvelder and Burger claim podium spots

EMPANGENI’S Sandra Mansvelder followed up her Tonevale Game Ranch run victory with a second place finish at the uMhlanga Summer Festival’s trail run.

The former Empangeni High School pupil crossed the 12km finish line in 1.10.06 to claim second spot in the women’s section.

Phantane Athletics Club speedster Anele Dlamini from Hammarsdale took the men’s honours in the main event (18km) with a time of 1.09:37.

The three-time Comrades Marathon runner will take a break over the festive season before attempting to defend his South African marathon title next year.

Mtunzini’s Amy Burger entered the 18km race as the defending champion, but finished third with a time of 1.35.34 after a tough and challenging race.

Jenna Challenor pipped the local resident to claim top honours with a time of 1.18:48.
