Businesses buckle up on bucket challenge
DICE encouraged community members to challenge one another to collect 1 000 grocery buckets, which will be distributed to the most needy families in the area
COLLECTING a whopping 577 food buckets, South32 Hillside and their contractor partners went above and beyond the call of charity in supporting the DICE (Do I Care Enough?) Christmas Cheer project.
DICE encouraged community members to challenge one another to collect 1 000 grocery buckets, which will be distributed to the most needy families in the area.

Employees and contractor partners at South32 Hillside responded with gusto, donating their buckets on Wednesday afternoon and helping reach the 1 000 buckets target.
South32 Vice President Operations, Noel Pillay, said teams enjoyed the healthy competition through the departmental challenges.
‘The Maintenance South team won the challenge after collecting a total of 165 food buckets.

‘We would like to thank all our employees and partners who generously supported this initiative, namely Aluref, Bidvest, Engineering Solutions, Khonzi Engineering Services, Kwa-Gijima, RCPK Training and Consulting, SVS Inspection and NDT Services and Vusukukhanya Cleaning Services.’
DICE founder Reg Anthony was ‘blown away’ by the response to the bucket challenge.

‘I never cease to be overwhelmed and humbled by the incredible generosity and compassion of the Zululand business world and community when it comes to responding to needs, she said.
‘This is ‘ubuntu’ in it’s truest meaning. The joy and appreciation on the faces of the recipients is truly a sight to behold.’
