DoE warns schools against withholding of reports

The department wished all learners and educators happy and safe holidays

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal wants to remind principals of schools and educators that they are not allowed by law to withhold learner’s reports where parents have difficulties in settling their debts.

There have been disturbing reports where some school principals are said to have withheld school reports, thereby disadvantaging learners and putting them under unnecessary pressure.

However, the department wants to remind and impress upon parents that it is their duty and obligation to pay school fees where a school is a fee paying school.

In an instance where a parent has a difficulty in settling the fees, parents must not just send learners alone to fetch reports, but must take responsibility and go to the school to make paying arrangements with the school.
