Car club members help the needy

Now in its third year, the car enthusiasts' fund-raiser has in the past helped out many families with food they would otherwise have gone without

ZULULAND Car Club members on Saturday held their annual fund-raising event through which they hope to support needy families with groceries in the run-up to the festive season.

Now in its third year, the car enthusiasts’ fund-raiser has in the past helped out many families with food they would otherwise have gone without.

‘There is so much need around us and so many people who go without basic foodstuffs – something most of us take for granted,’ said Darren Sunney.

‘Our aim is to raise as much as possible to help as many needy families as possible so they, too, can enjoy the festive season.’

In the first year, the fund-raiser brought in enough money to buy food hampers for as many as 15 families.

While the cost of living has increased dramatically this year, the organisers hope to help more families this year.
