ACTING Provincial Police Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa has expressed his shock at the arrest of two KwaMbonambi police officers for attempted murder.
The officers were arrested with five other suspects by eShowe SAPS and Ulundi Public Order Policing members at the Nkwalini T-junction last Saturday.
In a statement, Langa said an internal investigation will be conducted and disciplinary action instituted against the police officers if they are found guilty.
Zululand Cluster Police spokesperson, Captain Nkosie Gwala, said the victim was at his property in Vryheid when seven unknown suspects opened fire on his vehicle. He was not injured however.
The victim was apparently accused of stock theft in the area.
A case of attempted murder was opened at Vryheid police station for further investigation.
