THE case of the so-called ‘peeping Tom’ appears to have stagnated just a week after the incident occurred, leaving affected parties unsure as to where it will go from here.
Not having received communication regarding a court date, or the case in general, Denize Samuel said she contacted the investigating officer whose details she was sent in a SMS, but he appeared to have no knowledge of the case.
‘I am trying so hard to find out anything, I have not been contacted by the police, and I’m not sure who to speak to,’ said Samuel.
Richards Bay SAPS Communications Officer, Captain Debbie Ferreira, said the case of sexual assault was transferred to the Empangeni FCS (Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences) Unit but that, according to the system, no court docket appears to have been booked out.
It is also unclear whether or not the suspect has been released from police custody.
While the suspect’s name cannot be published until he has appeared in court and pleaded, members of the public are calling for his identity to be revealed.

Should this happen, the entire case could be jeopardised, leaving the suspect free to continue as before.
According to Samuel’s initial post, when the man was apprehended by security guards, he admitted to having carried out such actions previously.
