Young Mtubatuba model reaches new heights

Elegant Pinky continues to climb the fashion ladder

SHE might not be as tall as other models, but Mtubatuba beauty Pinky Ndlela (19) continues to reach new heights and is creating magic in the world of fashion.

Born in the heart of KwaMsane, Pinky grew up no different from other girls, but always knew she would be a high fashion model one day.

From as young as 13 year old she was fascinated with fashion TV shows.

‘As a young girl I loved fashion and modelling. I spent most of my free time watching Fashion TV and Americas Next Top Model. I could imagine myself being one of them,’ she said.

Now years later, this Grade 12 pupil of John Ross College in Richards Bay is living her dream.

She has an overflowing bag of achievements which started filling up way back in the early years of her career.

Not only was she crowned the Miss Teen Catwalk Model in 2013, but she continued in 2014 and scooped the uShaka Marine World first princess title.

In 2015 she became a Face of KZN finalist after outshining thousands of other hopefuls.

Over the years, she has also taken countless local beauty titles.

Dedication
Through her hard work and dedication she has grown from being a Kasi girl to a catwalk queen, especially in KZN.

She has had great opportunities showcasing beautiful garments in many towns across the province.

‘It’s quite amazing to see your dreams come true, but it took passion and dedication and support from my family. I still have a long way to go but have learned so much and understand this career is not just about glamour.

Designers want you to deliver and wear their garments with pride.

‘As models we need to sell the product and it’s not easy to be selling someone’s work, so you always have to be on your A game,’ she said.

When you first meet Pinky, her love for fashion and modelling is truly evident.

When she talks about her work, her face lights up like a young child on Christmas morning.

She oozes confidence and passion for her craft, and it doesn’t take a genius to understand why she is named among the best high fashion models in the province.

This young and emerging model soon wants to tap into fashion design and maybe one day become a top designer.

After completing her matric she aims to study towards a Fashion Design qualification at the Durban University of Technology.

‘I want to be involved in everything in fashion, from designing to modelling and maybe one day own my own clothing line.’
