FISHING along the Zululand shoreline has been very productive of late, despite other areas in KZN being a hit-and-miss affair due to the brown water that has plagued the majority of the eastern coastline.

Bonitas up to 4kg’s have been the secret for landing large Couta, with Dorado also gracing the local waters with their presence.
Inedible fish seem to the hot on the menu for rock and surf anglers working the North Coast section.

Raggies and Sand Sharks have been on the bite in Hlobane.
Using large meaty baits in deeper water will do the trick for those targeting these beasts.
When targeting this species, use a full metal jacket trace with a large circle.
A 150-lb wire of about 1.5m in length attached to a strong swivel and 1mm leader really helps when trying to pull a stubborn fish over the bank and on to the beach, especially if there is a strong backwash or steep lips.
Avid fresh water anglers have attempted every trick in the book, with hopes of landing some Tiger fish.

Tiger fishing in Jozini Dam has been very slow for quite some time now but some very small Tigers have been coming out on sardine baits and live Tilapia or Bream.
The Richards Bay Harbour has been keeping anglers very busy with Kingfish.
This is definitely the place to make a trip to if interested in estuarine light or ultra-light spinning.
