Empangeni High School (EHS) finished first in the country in the JSE Investment Challenge for Schools this year

EMPANGENI High School (EHS) finished first in the country in the JSE Investment Challenge for Schools this year.

The competition encourages students to become aware of the fundamentals of investing on the JSE, and encourages a culture of saving as well as becoming conscious of everyone’s contribution in the functioning of our economy.

Participants are required to group themselves into teams consisting of four students per team.

At the start of the challenge, each team is credited with an imaginary sum of R1-million to invest in JSE-listed instruments.

Participating teams test their trading prowess through an ongoing simulated programme.

Their performance is tracked and measured in competition against other teams from schools countrywide.

EHS’ outstanding achievement means the team will be flying to Johannesburg at the end of this month to collect their prizes, which consist of R4 000 for each team member, R1 000 for the school, and R4 500 for the teacher/mentor.

Prize money will be deposited into a Satrix Investment account.
