Weekend boredom busters for the kids
Tired of watching your kids watching cartoons all weekend long? Watch this space every week for some fresh ideas to keep them entertained – and spend some quality time with their parents!

Unedible sponge cake
This is the type of sponge cake you can’t eat, unfortunately.
However, it opens the door to many hours of crazy creative fun.
Plus, it’s something your child can keep and use for future pretend play tea parties.

You need a variety of colours and sizes of kitchen sponges, embellishments like pompoms and sequins, felt fabric, sharp scissors and glue.
Help the kids to cut up the sponges in manageable sized rectangles.
Show them how to layer a cake by gluing the sponges on top of each other.
Now allow the kids to decorate their cakes to their hearts’ content.
Bon appetit!
