Tired of watching your kids watching cartoons all weekend long?
Watch this space every week for some fresh ideas to keep them entertained – and spend some quality time with their parents!
Turn your old socks into a Baymax soft toy
If your child is a fan of the movie Big Hero 6, he’ll love helping you make his own Baymax soft toy.
All you need are a pair of white ankle socks, a permanent marker, sharp scissors, polyfill fabric stuffing, needle and white thread.
Turn your socks inside out and trace the pattern onto them.

(Download your pattern here below)
Cut out (only on the solid lines) and sew according to the drawing, except the head.
Turn all the parts right side out. You may need some blunt point tweezers to turn the little fingers out.
For the head, hand stitch the raw edge with a running edge ( – – – – – )
Pull the thread to gather the edge to make a cup.
Stuff the head with polyfill stuffing until it’s firm.

Pull the thread and push in the raw edge to close the opening. Make a secured knot.
Using your permanent marker, draw Baymax’s eyes.
If you’re feeling a bit more creative, sew on two black beads and embroider a black line between them.
Stuff the body. Massage and roll it in your hands until you are satisfied with the amount of filling and shape.
Gather and sew to close the opening.

Stuff the arms, starting with the fingers
Gather and sew to close the opening of both arms.
Stuff both legs, but do not sew to close the opening.
Mark the bottom of the body with two oblong circles where the legs should go.
Stitch the legs to the body along the drawing lines.
Pin and sew the head and arms onto the body.
Massage and roll all the parts until you’re happy that it looks like Baymax.
There you go! All done!
