Mystery surrounds Ulundi mayor’s attack

POLICE are investigating a case of malicious damage to property following a petrol bomb attack at Ulundi Mayor Wilson Ntshangase’s home on Sunday night.

Ntshangase was at his house when he heard a loud bang at his front window.

‘I switched off the light to check what was happening outside, but could not see anything.

‘I then went out to investigate and was shocked to discover a bottle and cap with a half burnt string attached, which proved to me that it was petrol bomb,’ he said

Ntshangase called the local police to initiate an investigation.

‘Nothing was damaged during the attack, apart from one broken window.

‘Although I’m politician and in politics anything is possible, at this stage I cannot speculate who might be behind this attack as I don’t have enemies.

‘I urge the community to allow the police to complete their investigation before jumping to conclusions, but anyone with information should report it to the police,’ Ntshangase said.

Police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala confirmed the incident and said a case of malicious damage to property is under investigation, but no arrests have been made.
