Plumbing guru passes away

Robbie van Wyk 13.07.1938 - 18.09.201

THE Richards Bay community mourns the passing last Monday evening of popular local businessman Robbie van Wyk.

Robbie was married on 25 June 1960 in Bloemfontein to the love of his life Bokkie and they shared 57 wonderful years together.

His wife was his world and he would fly to Mars to get her what she needed.

They have three children: June, Bobby and Tony.

A proud father, he loved to brag about his kids and grandchildren.

Robbie arrived in Richards Bay in 1975 as a qualified plumber and started Van’s Plumbing in 1980.

Tony joined his dad in the business in 1995 and from there the business grew from strength to strength.

Robby used to play soccer and loved playing darts. His favourite place was his swimming pool playing with the grandchildren or just cooling off after a hard day’s work in Zululand’s heat.

Whoever you ask will tell you Robby was the friendliest guy in town who would do anything to help his friends and family.

He loved food – especially pudding – and ice cream was his first choice.

He knew just how to put a smile on people’s faces, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
