Richards Bay Stingers Taekwondo Club students excelled on the international stage whilst representing team South Africa at a world taekwondo tournament in Argentina recently

RICHARDS Bay Stingers Taekwondo Club students excelled on the international stage whilst representing team South Africa at a world taekwondo tournament in Argentina recently.

Eddie Ogram and Tyrin van Rooyen won gold, adding to the SA team’s gold medal tally of six.

Ogram won gold in patterns and sparring, with Van Rooyen clinching gold in sparring.

The tournament was attended by 27 countries and 1 280 competitors.

‘I am so proud of the students’ achievements, as taekwondo is Argentina’s second ranked national sport after soccer, which makes our achievements even more impressive,’ said Richards Bay Stingers Taekwondo Club Chief Instructor, Bruce Madura.

Results

Relebohle Mathetha – silver medal for sparring and bronze for patterns.

Tammy du Preez – gold for patterns.

Thejane Mbambo – gold for sparring and silver for patterns.

Eddie Ogram – gold for sparring and patterns.

Jaden Piper – bronze for patterns and sparring.

Teagan Piper – gold for sparring,

Ronin Henning – silver for sparring,

Tyrin van Rooyen – gold for sparring.
