CRIME levels in Mzingazi have skyrocketed in recent months, leaving community members living in constant fear and law enforcement at a loss as to how to bring it under control.
An emergency meeting was held on Sunday between community members, SAPS, Meerensee and Birdswood CPFs, Chubb Security and NRPS (Northern Region Protection Services).
Representing the traditional structures, Inkosi Martin Mbuyazi was also in attendance.
After discussions, which included community members voicing their concerns, a new Mzingazi CPF committee was elected.

At the meeting it emerged that crime in Mzingazi has spiralled out of control, with the last four months showing 57.25 crimes reported each month.
This is a massive 40% higher compared to the same period last year.
