Youth League wants ‘backstabbers’ disciplined

The ANC is under siege says League

KZN ANC Youth League will reportedly not rest until all those Members of Parliament who voted with the opposition parties in the motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma last week, are dealt with.

Speaking during the ANC Youth League Musa Dladla Young Women Political Class held last week in eSikhaleni New Hall, ANCYL Deputy Secretary Nomfundo Zwane said the league was disturbed by the conduct of ANC members deployed in Parliament.

‘Firstly we need to thank those loyal members of the ANC who are deployed in Parliament for defending the ANC. They did not only defend President Zuma, but the ANC.’We know it well that the opposition’s intended target was not President Zuma, but the ANC government. It is the ANC that is under siege.

‘Equally we remain concerned about foreign tendencies displayed by some of our members, who tried to sell out the revolution.

‘We have a problem with comrades who claim to have joined the movement many years ago, but who have nothing to show for that.

‘These people are sent to Parliament on the ticket of the ANC. Theirs is to implement the policies and take the mandate of the ANC. It was a shock to learn of their actions which are counter-revolutionary.

‘As the ANC we go to conferences every five years, elect a President and task him with the responsibility to lead the government. There has never been a conference that has decided that

President Zuma is no longer fit to lead us as the State President. It puzzles us as where did these people get the mandate to vote out our President.

‘We would like the ANC to investigate this matter fully, so that these people must be disciplined.

On Deputy Minister Manana

Reacting on the assault charges laid against Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana, Zwane said as the women they would like to see action being taken against Manana.

‘It can’t be correct that we have people who abuse women , especially during Women’s Month, whether they are ANC members or not. The law must take its course and justice must be done,’ said Zwane.

The Political Class was also addressed by Regional Women’s League Chairperson Silondile Mkhize, who echoed Zwane’s sentiments.

‘We need to thank those MPs who defended the President. Can you imagine what would happen, had this motion succeeded? I can tell you we would be a laughing stock by now, ‘ she said.

The class was aimed at capacitating young women in the ANC to to know their roles in the movement.
