Young Bay model to boost career in USA

Nicole Steinberg plans to get as much out of the USA workshops as possible

A YOUNG model from Richards Bay is looking forward with great anticipation to her upcoming trip to Orlando in the USA, after she was selected by an international talent scout to go through to the next round of the ARTS showcase.

‘After signing with Just You Model and Artist Management, I was at a pageant with other KZN models in Rustenberg last year,’ said 14-year-old Nicole Steinberg.

‘The agency suggested I look into the ARTS showcase as a way of fast-tracking my modelling career.’

The ARTS (Applause Rising Talent Showcase) offers models, singers and dancers exposure to perform and network in front of international agents, producers, record labels, managers and casting directors.

Apart from committing to get artists and models ahead in the industry, the ARTS initiative provides the necessary experience and knowledge to benefit young hopefuls in the industry and in starting their career.

Nicole flew through the first two rounds, held in April and October last year, in Durban and at the Silverstar Casino in Johannesburg respectively.

‘I was on stage with three other models at the Johannesburg audition for a short time before Kim Myers said we could leave the stage. I really did not think I would make it through that round,’ said Nicole.

‘So I was really surprised and overwhelmed, but ecstatic, when I received the phone call later that night to say that I had made it through to the Orlando audition.’

After going through two boot camps this year in preparation for Orlando, the time has now come for Nicole to wing her way to the USA, which she does tomorrow (Friday).

‘We will receive the final programme of events once we touch down in New York, but all I know for now is that after some sightseeing and some time at the New York Film Academy, I will attend workshops, auditions and, if I make it through, the red carpet event at the end of the two weeks.

‘I would like to thank my sponsors MDI Durban, Coelanie and Vangiblox, as well as family and friends who have helped me on my way to the USA,’ said Nicole.

‘Without them I would not have been able to embark on this incredible journey.’

Nicole plans to document her time in Orlando, recording all she learns and achieves, by posting photographs to her Instagram account – nicolesteinberg2016.
