Zululand anglers kept busy over the past week

With the weather playing it's roll and the sea swell and wash not effecting the anglers, reports of decent sized fish have been reported

LOCAL anglers who have packed their cooler boxes to the brim and fully loaded their bait and tackle boxes over the past week, have reaped reward both on the shore and deep sea all along the Zululand coastline.

With the weather playing it’s roll and the sea swell and wash not effecting the anglers, reports of decent sized fish have been reported.

Anglers who have been fishing the deep seas off the Sodwana and Maphelane area, have been bending and working hard to land big Couta and Tuna, as well as loads of Snoek.

The secret behind the big Tuna is to use poppers or drop large live baits at deep depths, whilst the Snoek have been coming out on artificial baits.

Some fisherman have hooked onto some nice sized Dorados while trawling small konas and throwing surface lures.

Zinkwazi has been very productive, with many reports of big Dagga Salmon and Couta being reported for guys fishing deep sea.

Rock and surf

For local guys fishing in the Kosi Bay area, a number of edible fish such as Stumpies, Rockcod, Bonefish and Pompano have been on the bite.

The Stumpies, Bonefish and Pompano have been taking sealice and small chokka baits, with the Rockcod taking small live baits and small chokka baits.

Cape Vidal has seen a large number of decent edibles and a number of sharks and rays being caught.

The Stumpies, Pompano and different reef species being targeted, have been landed on chokka and sealice baits.

Richards Bay has been quiet lately, with anglers leaving their heavy equipment at home.

But despite this, decent edibles such as Snoek, Kob, Grunter and King Fish have been bagged.

Anglers who have been targeting non edible fish, have had their hands full with Diamond Rays taking big juicy baits.
