Cosatu marchers failed to arrive in predicted large numbers as they protested in Richards Bay
A SMALL but enthusiastic group of Cosatu members marched through Richards Bay on Tuesday to deliver a memorandum to the Department of Labour offices in Lira Link.
The group made their way through the CBD from the ZCBF Showgrounds, pausing for long periods at busy intersections to protest vocally.
Part of three days of lawful national action ‘in support of workers’ legitimate demands’, among other issues the memorandum primarily called for the scrapping of e-tolls and opposition to privatisation of roads, as well as the banning of labour brokers.
It also called for a tougher stance in the fight against crime and corruption, and the need to urgently address ‘the crisis in the public health and education systems’.
