A MZINGAZI man was burned with an iron during a house robbery in the early hours of Thursday morning when six robbers attacked him at his homestead.
The 34-year-old victim woke up at about 1.30am to collect water when he was accosted by two armed men.
According to Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira, the suburb reportedly experienced water supply interruptions during the day and the victim therefore got up at night to store water when supply was restored.
‘They demanded money and when he told them he had none, they plugged in the iron and began burning him on his arms and stomach.
‘The suspects then ransacked his home, found money and his cellphone and fled the scene,’ said Ferreira.
