Richards Bay Netball ace Charnelle on the move
Charnelle Badenhorst was selected for the Centurion Warriors Academy U18 team after her standout performance at 'Bokkieweek' earlier this year
RICHARDS Bay netball star Charnelle Badenhorst was selected for the Centurion Warriors Academy U18 team after her standout performance at ‘Bokkieweek’ earlier this year.
The team will compete in the Emirates Dubai netball tournament from 27 November to 5 December.
The 18-year-old Port Natal matric learner has not only racked up numerous provincial selections on the netball courts, but on the athletics track as well.
Her impressive sport rèsumè reads as follows: swimming captain (2017), KZN U18A mixed action netball team (2015), KZN U17 A action netball team (2016), Junior Victrix Ludorum for athletics (2013), Senior Victrix Ludorum for athletics (2015 and 2016), KZN athletics team (2014), AVS Natal U14 netball team (2013), KZN U15A netball team (2014), AVS Natal U16 netball team (2014), AVS Natal U16 netball captain (2015), KZN U17 netball captain (2016), AVS Natal U19 netball team (2016), SA U17 Fast Five U16 netball team (2016), KZN U18 netball team (2017) and AVS Natal U19 netball team (2017).
The goal and wing attack player started netball in Grade R and has never looked back.
‘I love the competitive, physical and fast action aspects of the sport,’ says Charnelle.
She trains twice a week and once on a weekend for 2 hours per training session.
Her goals for the rest of the year are simple, matriculate with six distinctions and making an impact at the Dubai tournament at the end of the year.
Next year she will study environmental science and physiology at the University of Potchefstroom.
‘I would really like to make the university’s netball team and perhaps even the baby Proteas team later on.
