Mhlathuze Water river clean-up in eNseleni

Mhlathuze Water employees clear the Mpoza River bank for Mandela Day

WITH a need for water security, especially during the present global climate change scenario, a large number of Mhlathuze Water staff members rolled up their sleeves during the Clear Rivers Campaign in eNseleni on Wednesday morning.

The dedicated workforce cleared the heavily polluted watercourse of the Mposa River, and removed all illegally dumped objects such as plastic bags, car tyres and household garbage found on the site.

This massive clean-up operation was part of the Nelson Mandela month celebration.

The aim was to set a good example and encourage volunteers across the region to participate in the cleaning up of rivers, wetlands, streams and other forms of freshwater eco-systems.

The main objective was to endeavour through collaborative effort to actively engage communities, as well as promoting and creating an ongoing awareness and education on protecting water resources.
