Brackenham soccer action heats up
Competition is fierce at the moment with Shining Stars FC in second position, closely followed by Felixton Rangers FC
THE Richards Bay Sport and Recreation’s (RBSR) seven-a-side league has passed the half way mark and Brackenham United Football Club (FC) has secured their spot at the top of the log, winning seven of their eight matches, with one drawn.
Competition is fierce at the moment with Shining Stars FC in second position, closely followed by Felixton Rangers FC.
At the mid-season tournament recently which was sponsored by Magnis Zululand, Shining Stars showed their soccer skills and scooped the winning title.

Currently there are eight teams competing in the league, coming from across the City of uMhlathuze.
According to Perry Chetty of Magnis Zululand, the company also has a team participating in the league which consists of staff members from their different departments.
‘We are extremely grateful to our Dealer Principal Aroon Govender who has sponsored the team kits and equipment and was also the sponsor of the mid-season tournament.
‘This has been an excellent team building activity and provides our staff with an opportunity to build relationships and morale.
‘We have 19 registered players in this league and we invite other companies to also participate,’ said Chetty.
Meanwhile, Les Rungasamy of RBSR thanked the community for their support and the spectators who attend the weekly matches every Thursday at 7pm at the Brackenham Sports Ground.
‘We appreciate all the support we receive from our local business community and also thank Ravi Singh, owner of Wimpy Empangeni and Meerensee for his sponsorship towards the club’s jerseys and fees.’
