UPDATE: Abused eSikhaleni girls take back their power

‘Drunken school boys got away with abuse’ – said two female teens two weeks after they were abused on the street

‘WE won’t let the abusers’ actions take over our lives.’

Two eSikhaleni female teenagers, who were reportedly brutally assaulted and sexually harassed by drunken school boys two weeks ago, are slowly taking their power back.

Despite their desperate shout for help falling on deaf ears, these teens are now eager to re-claim their lives and ready to face the world without fear.

These two cousins were walking to a bus stop along Tisand Technical School in eSikhaleni; when they were accosted by boys coming from the school premises.

According to reports, the girls were forcefully stopped and the boys grabbed their breasts and other private parts while assaulting them in broad day light.

It is believed the perpetrators were under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

After being humiliated and traumatised in public, the girls isolated themselves from the public.

In an exclusive interview with the ZO, the duo said they now aim to focus on positive things such as their school work and community involvement.

‘We can’t live in fear anymore. We can’t let them win,’ said one 18-year-old victim.

Even though this brave pair intend to put the petrifying ordeal behind them, they also expressed their dissatisfaction over how the matter was handled by the school.

‘After reporting this matter to the school principal, it looks like no one cares. Women and young girls can be violated on the streets and nothing is doing anything,’

According to these victims, has been no reaction from the principal or the Department of Education.
