Second car stolen in Arboretum suburb

In just over a week, two vehicles have been purloined in the small Richards Bay suburb

ONLY ten days after a car was reported stolen on Jacaranda street in Arboretum Extension, another was purloined two blocks away on Cassia Close.

The blue VW Polo, also parked outside a house in the small suburb, vanished between 8.30 and 9.30pm on Thursday.

Police are still searching for the suspects.

The Richards Bay SAPS recently cautioned residents about carjackings and smash-and-grab cases making rounds in the City.

‘We urge motorists and business owners not to park vehicles in dark or remote areas,’ said Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson Captain Debbie Ferreira.

‘Never leave valuable items visible in cars and always double check that the vehicle is locked by trying the door handle.

‘Car jammers are out and about using remotes, blocking the signal of locking remotes.’
