KNYSNA called for help – and Zululand answered with a war cry!
The Zululand Observer offices and several drop-off points throughout the city were flooded with donations on Friday to support thousands of Knysna residents who lost their possessions in the raging fires that blazed through their community on Wednesday and Thursday.
Zululanders’ response to DHL’s appeal for donations to aid its disaster relief efforts has been outstanding, with bags of clothing, blankets and non-perishable food items dropped off at the Richards Bay depot. DHL’s co-ordinated disaster relief effort is nationwide, ‘We will continue to deliver these donated items for as long as they are required in the Garden Route area, by air or by road,’ said Yusuf Suliman, DHL Richards Bay agency owner.
Tinned food, blankets, clothing, shoes and household supplies arrived in boxes, bakkies, bags and shoe boxes as smiling-faced children accompanied their parents and grandparents to give what they could to assist.

DICE (Do I Care Enough?) and ZO staff lugged boxes and offloaded groceries for most of the day, and loved every moment of it.

DICE also made a much-needed donation of winter clothing, blankets and bedding.
