A 47-year-old man from Mzingazi was sentenced to eight years imprisonment in the Empangeni Regional Court on Friday after being convicted for the attempted murder of his ex-girlfriend.
The court heard that the accused, Thokozani Cele, and the complainant were in a relationship when at some stage she discovered that he was married.
She ended their relationship, but the accused refused to accept her decision.
According to evidence the complainant started a relationship with another woman after the breakup, which angered Cele.
