IT was the Stephan Joubert show at Addison Park on Saturday when the Empangeni Rugby Club manhandled the Richards Bay Rugby Club by 10 wickets in their First Division Saturday Leage cricket clash..
Empangeni’s Joubert took 4/18 in six overs and posted an unbeaten 52 to lead his side to victory.
Richards Bay won the toss and chose to bat first on a tame track.
But unable to utislise the batting paradise, they were bowled out for a mere 92, with Lazar Holmes and Christo Strydom both making 13.
Spinners Joubert and Chad Neuhoff 3/12 in 3.2 overs did the damage for the home side.
Simon Savides 43 not out and Joubert 52 not out reached the total in 9.2 overs to take their team across the line.
Joubert was on 48 with his team needing one run to win and two runs short of his 50, so he smashed Malcolm Faught for four runs to secure his half ton.
Ruan van Rensburg with 0/23 in three overs was the pick of the bowlers for the Bay side – and that speaks volumes of Empangeni’s dominance.
