The Mkhanyakude District held a Farmers’ Day and Mini Show at the Nkobide Secondary School outside Mtubatuba in preparation for the Steers Competition at the Royal Show.

The show was organised by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and was a great success and all involved saying it definitely needs to be repeated.

They were able to interact with 21 organisations and agricultural companies with representatives on hand offering practical farming advice.

The animal was bought from Nealis Ferreira, of Ferrero Bonsmaras from Harrismith.

This is recognised as the top steer trophy at the Royal Show and was a great achievement considering this is the first time the learners have participated under the leadership of Sizwe Mthethwa of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
