THIS year’s Empangeni High School choir is certainly continuing the tradition of excellence.
The gold award the group earned at a recent ATKV (Afrikaanse Taal en Kultuurverniging) choir competition has earned them a place in the ATKV finals in Johannesburg on 3 August.
But they didn’t stop there.
The choir so impressed the judges at the provincial finals of the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod held at the Durban Playhouse on Saturday, that they claimed three podium finishes while competing against the best choirs in KZN.

They won the African Sepedi category and finished second in both the Female Voices and Afrikaans Prescribed sections.
EHS will therefore represent KZN at the national finals later this year. The choir conductors are Mrs Lourette Upton and Mr Sizwe Zwane.
