A WAR of words has erupted regarding the alleged removal of water tanks from communities in various wards of the Nquthu Local Municipality after the ANC lost the by-elections.
The IFP has claimed that the removals are punishment being meted out to the people of Nquthu for not voting for the ANC.
The ANC has, however, strongly rejected these allegation and calls on the IFP to provide evidence of these claims.
In a statement the ANC says it is not involved in such strange exercises which resonates with a deep sense of injustice against ordinary people.
‘The African National Congress is neither bitter nor devising any strategy or possible means to punish the people of Nquthu for their democratic choice.

‘The origin of these allegations comes from the IFP and only exists within their own circles and has absolutely no basis in a realm of facts and reality,’ says the ANC statement.
The IFP expressed its concern after the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs started taking back goods that were delivered to the Nquthu community during the municipal by-election campaigns.
They claim that goods, such as garden fencing and water tanks, to assist in water crisis, are now being taken back by the department.
The IFP National chairman, Blessed Gwala says, ‘The people of Nquthu must be made aware that these resources were brought here in the name of government and not the ANC.
‘The IFP calls on COGTA to return all these resources to the people since taxpayers’ money was used,’ said Gwala.
