Mtubatuba truck troublemakers arrested

Three men overturned trucks transporting coal

THREE men who on Wednesday forced two truck drivers to unload their coal on the R618 near the Tendele Coal Mine outside Mtubatuba, are now behind bars at the KwaMsane police cells.

They will appear in the KwaMsane Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday) on charges of malicious damage to property.

Tendele on 29 March signed a peace agreement with its host community in the Mpukunyoni area, represented among others by iNkosi MM Mkhwanazi Mtubatuba, Ndunankulu N Mkhwanazi and Mtubatuba Mayor MQ Mkhwanazi, to stop disruptions at the anthracite mine.

This after the mine had battled with recurrent community and Mpukunyoni Community Property Association (MCPA) protest action at the end of last year when the entrances to the mine were blocked and staff threatened.
