Shaping academics for the country’s future

RURAL economy, primary health care, early childhood development and farming are some of the issues that dominated the Academic Symposium held last week at the University of Zululand.
Under the theme, ‘Investing in African minds,’ the Symposium was organised by ANHEF Academic Club, which is a student chapter for the Professional Progressive Forum (PPF). The club, which was launched recently, has been running for eight weeks.
Speaking at the symposium, the PPF Regional Chairperson Dr Sifiso Mazibuko said it was imperative to shape academics for the future, adding that the symposium provided a perfect platform for students to improve their academic results and to connect with the employers, corporates and the world.
‘We want to ensure that students are exposed to platforms where they are able to express their views in an academic manner at a varsity stage,’ added Mazibuko of Sindisa Health Care and who is one of the brains behind the building of a 200 bed hospital in the City of uMhlathuze.
