Faulty phone lines affect Empangeni businesses

A damaged Telkom cable has left a number of businesses in Empangeni area without telephones for a week

A DAMAGED Telkom cable has left a number of businesses in Empangeni area without telephones for a week.

A spokesperson for the 5Ways Mall confirmed on Wednesday that they have received complaints from a couple of tenants regarding non-functioning phone lines.

One business owner said they have been without phones since last week Thursday and were told that the phone lines would be back up last Friday.

‘This is really bad for businesses,’ he said.

Meanwhile a Grantham Park resident said there has been no Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) service available since Sunday and the response from Telkom is simply, ‘We are working on it.’

Telkom could not be reached for comment at the time of going to print.
