Zululander explains how he lost a third of his body weight
ALWYN Roos lost a whopping 53kg – a third of his total body weight – no thanks to ‘banting’, ‘paleo-ing’ or ‘calorie counting’.
But he certainly made a run for it.
The Empangeni resident went from 153kg to 100kg after climbing on a scale in 2013 and never looked back.
‘I just realised that I could not add more weight and had to try to change my lifestyle.
‘I managed to lose 16kg between 2013 and 2015 by simply changing my eating and drinking habits.
I reduced my intake of both.
‘Then in February 2015, a friend dared me to finish the Mondi 10km run, which was held only 18 days later.
‘I finished it and fell in love with running.
