Sobering discipline for City’s drunk drivers
Twenty-four drunk drivers were arrested in the city at the weekend during two major RTI and National Traffic Police operations

TWENTY-FOUR drunk drivers were arrested in the city at the weekend during two major RTI and National Traffic Police operations.
On Friday night a ‘hit-and-run’ roadblock operation was set up in eSikhaleni, which saw the arrest of six individuals for driving under the influence.
They were all arrested and taken to the eSikhawini Police Station.

A further 18 drunk drivers were arrested during an eight-hour roadblock held on the John Ross Parkway on Saturday evening, running into Sunday morning.
Those arrested were taken to the Empangeni Police Station where they were detained.
Natie Ferreira of RTI Empangeni informed the ZO that the highest reading recorded during the John Ross roadblock was 1.07 mg/l and 1.25 mg/l during the eSikhaleni roadblock on Friday night, whereas the current limit stands at 0.02 mg/l.
