Strandloper officially closes its doors

Strandloper has been operating for at least 40 years and its most recent owners have become pillars of the Meerensee community

OWNERS of the Strandloper convenience store in Meerensee on Monday locked its doors for the last time.

A landmark in Richards Bay, Strandloper has been operating for at least 40 years and its most recent owners have become pillars of the Meerensee community.

After the lease expired at the end of March, Strandloper’s owners were given notice by premises owner and landlord Indaba Lodge, whose management plans to expand the hotel’s services and upgrade the building in keeping with the hotel.

Holiday flats will occupy the top level of the building, while the hotel’s offices will move down to ground level.

There will also be an upmarket salon and spa, a gym for the hotel guests and a laundry.
