WATCH: Richards Bay hippo takes on vehicle
People are urged to be vigilant in the vicinities of the Alkantstrand Beach dredger pipeline and Naval Island slipway after numerous recent hippo sightings and one charging incident
A RICHARDS Bay man got the fright of his life on Monday night when a hippo charged out of the bush at Alkantstrand Beach and attacked his vehicle.
Thabiso Mbuyazi had finished his shift at work and, at about 10pm took a turn to the beach.
When his vehicle slowed on soft sand covering the road in the vicinity of the dredger pipeline, the hippo appeared out of nowhere and charged his vehicle.
